HewTech Electronics LLC has recently developed a low-cost Quantity Gauge for Fuel-Level measurement  for vehicles / systems using LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) as a Cryogenic stored Fuel.

The Model SSU-33/240M  is a signal conversion, liquid level sending unit (Fuel Level Measurement unit).  The device interprets the measurement signal received from the sensor probe and converts it to a liquid-level measurement.  This measurement is displayed using a common 33~240 ohm GM automotive-type FUEL gauge (ordered separately).

The design takes into consideration low-voltage directive (LVD) and intrinsic-safety practices by using a low 3.3 volts DC circuit power & total DC signal isolation to the probe.  Module power is from a typical 12 Volt vehicle battery.  24VDC system is available as an option.

The control unit utilizes a RISC microcontroller to precisely monitor the tank probe level and permanently store calibration values internally.  Simple 1 finger push-button calibration quickly sets the EMPTY (0%) & FULL (100%) levels of the tank.   The FUEL gauge is automatically scaled to the calibrated values.  The design easily handles various probe lengths and cables with a wide range of characteristic capacitance.

A SERIAL port is also integrated into the module to allow RS232 / USB interface for LAPTOP calibration if desired
An external interface adapter is available or can be purchased locally through most computer suppliers
