2005

DEC 26, 2005:  This is the last week we can build & ship CDI boxes, before heading out to the  Eagle River Vintage Weekend.   Any CDI orders that we receive after New Years Eve (Saturday, Jan 31, 2005) will not ship until after January 12th, 2006, when we return.  Hope to see you there!

NOVEMBER 25, 2005:  The season is upon us!  Like you, we are also getting our sleds ready for the upcoming 2006/2006 season.  We are again building / shipping FIREPLUG CDI's, which seemed to take off once the weather cooled.  Call / e-mail us for your FIREPLUG CDI.

We do have the Twin-cyl CDI ready, but at this time, do not have the plastic connector available, so have to re-use the old one from your original CDI.  Contact us for more info on the POLARIS TWIN FIREPLUG CDI.  We should have dyno results soon.

The Yamaha SR433/643 CDI has lagged behind, mainly due to the inability to find a running engine / sled to use for the development.  We are still hoping to move ahead with it, but uncertain of the timetable.

We normally don't advertise in magazines, however we appreciate THE WINNING EDGE Magazine so much with their Vintage Racing & Show coverage that we decided to pony-up and advertise in this next issue.  If you don't subscribe, you don't know what you are missing.  Click the link above and start getting it!  It's the best snowmobile coverage going!  Watch for the HEWTECH ELECTRONICS LLC advertisement in the latest issue!

Watch for us at many of the Michigan Vintage Oval events this season as well as Eagle River Vintage Weekend.  A FULL SCHEDULE of Vintage Racing throughout North America is posted The North American Antique, Classic, and Vintage Snowmobile Events Page thanks to Monty 'TESHIO" Wiseman for the effort & web space.

August 19, 2005:  We're always looking for good parts during the off-season.  If you are not aware, Wahl Bros Racing (Greenbush, MN) has a full line catalog (available from their website) of everything you need in Snowmobile Oval & Drag Racing parts and accessories.  We needed a small plastic lube-tank & guess who had a wide selection?  These guys don't just sell parts & talk a good game, they really know their stuff.  The Wahl Bros name pops up in the WIN column too often to count over the past 30 years.  Don't just guess, ask Wahl what works!  Check them out at the Wahl Bros Racing website or e-mail them at joel@wahlracing.com  Tell them we sent you!

August 3, 2005:  If you haven't heard of NORTHSTAR SKI'S, you've been running too far back in the pack!  NORTHSTAR SKI'S are a top-grade custom extruded aluminum racing ski, specially designed for your Vintage Oval Racer.  Ski's are available in custom anodized aluminum with colored hoops that meet all the latest safety rules.  Watch the top finishers this season at the ovals & you will see NORTHSTAR Ski's in action.  For more information, check them out at NORTHSTAR SKI'S or e-mail them at northstarskis@wiktel.com

Aug 3, 2005:  We always pass along good sources when we find them.  We recently found a company in Michigan that specializes in Water-Jet cutting.  The unique thing about this company is they will do 1 piece or 1000 pieces and their pricing is excellent!  The owner (Jason) is a former Snowmobile Drag-racer, so knows a bit about sleds too.  We are using these guys and are very happy with the pricing and quality.  Contact Jason at Fab-Jet Services (E-mail) or call them at 586 463-9622.  Tell them you heard about them from HewTech Electronics LLC.

July 19, 2005:  The summer grass-drag season is quickly approaching!  We are running a bit slower on production in the summer months, so takes a few days longer to build & ship the CDI's.  We plan to be back on schedule by the Fall.  We are still planning to offer the Twin-Cyl Polaris CDI this Fall, so watch for the announcement of it's release!

May 11, 2005: We're Honored!  Seems HewTech Electronics www.CDIBOX.com website has been voted Vintage Snowmobile Web Site of the Month for May 2005 by the Vintage Snowmobile Network perhaps better known as Teshio Consulting LLC

If you have not had a chance to visit their website, please take the time to check it out.  There is no better site for Events, Rules, and the ever popular VSN Store  that has all the hard-to-find Vintage collectors guides, tuning manuals, videos & other Vintage snowmobile rare books / media.  Don't chance an Ebay crap-shoot, get the original books, brand-new from a reliable & trust-worthy source!  We've already bought ours!!!

HewTech Electronics LLC CDI DEVELOPMENT SCHEDULE:  We plan to develop the 2-cyl Polaris (TX, TX-L etc) CDI, the 2-cyl (TWIN) Yamaha SR433/643 CDI, and time permitting, possibly the RUPP Tohatsu FIREPLUG CDI's this summer.  We also have a "Stealth Project CDI" under development, which we can't disclose any information at this time.  We can say that it will be something many will be interested in.

May 6, 2005:  The Polaris TX / TX-L twin-cyl prototype FIREPLUG CDI has been sent for testing.  We expect preliminary feedback in the next few weeks, and extensive Dyno testing this summer.  5/11: UPDATE:  Polaris FIREPLUG CDI initial testing proved excellent results.  MORE to COME!

March 2005:  Well, the season is over.  We would like to thank all the FIREPLUG CDI customers who purchased units this past season.  It's truly a pleasure meeting our customers and discussing their applications and sleds.  I appreciate all the e-mails we receive once they have a chance to experience the FIREPLUG CDI on their sled.  Thanks to all for their patronage over the season!

Jan~March 2005: Although we started off poorly, unable to attend Eagle River Vintage weekend (a huge downer), we had the opportunity to race the FAN 440 T/Twister in 4 events (8 heats).  Despite clutching issues, we posted 7 wins and 1 second place finish.  The second place finish occurred during the last March race, in 50 degree temperatures.  4" of water/slush limited the poor twisters ability to go fast & turn left.  We went from a last (8th) place start (couldn't get it to plane off....that's boat talk!), to within a few feet of the winner in 5 laps.  One more lap, and our "undefeated" season would have remained!  We had a lot of fun meeting people, testing CDI's and turning left!  Can't wait for 2005~2006 season and our new sled project to come together!
