This is the first time we have offered a FIREPLUG CDI for post-1983 applications!
DESIGN BACKGROUND: This has been a popular conversion for early-model 3-cyl's because of the Advanced / Retard curve function available after 1983. The Early CDI's were "STRAIGHT-CURVE", or basically no ignition curve. The later stator / CDI combination provided the much needed timing curve which provided much better overall engine performance.
We have worked on refining this design for over 2 years! Just offering a replacement CDI is not what we are about. It has to be better....much better!. Whether you decide to run your FIREPLUG CDI on the track or looking for reliability on the trails, you can be sure we have tested it many times on both! Kurt Andrews (pictured) of Extreme Vintage Racing, has performed testing throughout the FIREPLUG CDI development on the track and the dyno!.
Eagle River Testing 2004 & 2006!
In order to perform more hours of overall
testing, we converted a 1992 Polaris INDY 650 triple over to the Pre-1991
ignition system. Our 650 engine consists of a 1983 INDY 600 crankcase and
stator assembly (no oil injection). The top end is 1989 650 crank-shaft,
heads & cylinders, running WISECO Pro-Lite pistons and rings. We
finished it off with a set of DG Triple pipes & silencers, and FIREPLUG

Additional testing was performed on a 74-TX500.
The FIREPLUG CDI is compatible with
the stator used from 1973~1991 on the Polaris Triples.

Every CDI unit is manufactured at HewTech Electronics in Michigan, tested and shipped directly to you. It doesn't exist until an order is received.
